## Visa Checklist ### Pre-Application Checklist - Visa Type: Determine the type of visa best suited for your goal. In case of leisure travel it would be the B1/B2 visa. - Required Documents: Passport, 4-photographs, DS-160 form filled, visa fees, sustenance proof, proof of economic ties to home country and travel dates. ### Application process - Fill form: Ensure that all the fields are filled and answered to the best of your knowledge. In case of doubts, write to the embassy or consulate in your country. - Pay Fees: Find and pay the appropriate fee for the visa type using credit card or netbanking. Double check bank balance for a smooth transaction. ### Interview - Book appointment: Identify travel dates and book the visa appointment at least 4-5 weeks ahead of the date of intended travel. Allow buffer room for appeal in case of visa denial. ### Preparation - Mock Questions: Gather mock questions usually asked by the consulate/immigration officer for your profile type. - Supporting Documents: Gather supporting documents that might be asked for based on your profile type. ### Day of the Interview - Arrival: Be at least 45-minutes early to the visa interview venue and check in with the staff on the timelines for the day. - Attire: Semi-formal or formal clothing would give the ideal impression to the visa officer. - Attitude: Keep your tone friendly and assertive when conversing with the officer. ### Post-Interview - Track: Once the application is made and the interview is done successfully, the decision is shared immediately, so track the return of your passport. - Decision: If the visa is denied, talk to a visa expert and file for an appeal within 30 days of the interview with relevant supporting documents. ### Travel Prep - Valid Dates: Check the validity of the visa to ensure that they align with your trip dates. - Proof of Sustenance: Gather proof of sustenance that you might be asked for when trying to enter the US. - Additional Precautions: Check for appropriate precautions you might need to take in respect to vaccinations, customs and more.
